The natural region "De Leemputten"

The region Leempuuten used to be a clay-pit that was reconquered by nature. This region offers a petting zoo for the children.

Opening times::  
Easter until 31. May: 1 to 6 pm (closed mondays)

Museum Erve Kots
Until the year 1936 Erve Kots was a farm managed by the family Kots, who then transformed it into a museum that gives visitors a lovely insight into the family farming life of the Achterhoeks. After numerous historic details Erve Kots offers everyone a beer from its own brewery.

Opening times:  
Monday-Sunday: from 10 am – 8 pm or with agreement
warm meals: from 12 pm
Museum: from 10 am - 5 pm

Käsehof Weenink
This Kaeshof is an old farm that has mastered the art of producing cheese and offers many tasteful kinds for your delight.

Opening times:

Public holiday: until 7:30 pm
Sonntag: 1:30 – 6 pm

Bocholt and surroundings

Schloss Anholt
The picturesque surroundings of the Wasserburg Anholt are completed by the baroque gardens and noble and generous parks.
With a reconstruction of the 70% destroyed castle in 1945, the main castle received the indentity of museum. In time the museum blossomed with its library and archive of the princes of Salm-Salm on a 1500 m assorted area.

From 1892 to 1900 prince Leopold of Salm-Salm constructed a park in the southwest part of the surrounding area of the Wasserburg Anholt. The park consists of rock, stone and alpine formations to unfold its true character. Not only does the park have a wonderful animal park but also a beautiful 18 hole golf course.

Textilmuseum Bocholt
In its fully functional 'Museum factory' the westphalian industry museum shows the processes of a typical business in the time between 1900 and 1960.

Shopping Arkaden
More than 300 meters long and most of it covered by a glass roof, this SHOPPING ARCADE represents the new high street of Bocholt. Look forward to a big selection of shops with short ways in any weather and every season.
The shops of the SHOPPIING ARCADE are opened daily from 9:30 am to 8 pm and Saturdays until 6 pm.

Regeneration and relaxation are best found in nature when fishing, shooting crossbow, hiking and observing game. With a horse and carriage and the company of fellow enthusiasts you can enjoy the countryside. In between strenghts are rejuvenated with coffee, home made cake and our daily fresh smoked trout.

Zoological garden in Schloss Raesfeld
The zoological garden in Schloss Raesfeld was erected in the mid 17th century and according to the 'Westphalian department for preservation of ancient monuments' one of the oldest existing renaissance zoological gardens in Germany. Due to the great preservation and uniqueness of the zoological garden it has developed itself together with Schloss Raesfeld to the project REGIONALE 2004 outside of the REGIONALE area.

Youthcastle Gemen
This castle is a 900 year old Wasserburg and has been leased by the bishop of Muenster since 1946 for youth work. Today it is an educational establishment for youth and young adults and serves as a place of information, meeting others and combined adventure and reflection.

Leisure park Pröbsting
Over the past couple of years the leisure park 'Proebsting' managed to develop itself in the district of Hoxfeld. Over 1.2 qm of forest, water, meadows and fields offer numerous possibilities to relax. Next to the many bike paths, hiking trails, Mini golf course and playground, there is an over 100.000 qm lake with pier and a connecting swimming lake for sailing, surfing, boating, fishing and swimming.(Chaperoned by the DLRG / Lifeguard on Sa., So. and public holidays)

For the past five years Vreden has had its own brewery and home to the 'Herrliche Bieren'. In the restaurant you are able to enjoy it as a combination with a herrliche meal.

Biological Station Zwillbrock
The nature park offers different possibilities to relax in the purity of nature. You are able to hike and ride the bike whilst seeing live flamingos.

Hamaland Museum
The Hamaland Museum Vreden, with its 1000 qm exhibition space, is the biggest historic and cultural museum in the westmuensteland area. There are more than 10.000 exhibition pieces. The emphasis lies on the history of the area, nature and the countryside, art and craft work, house and home, profane textiles, art from the Vredener church, paramentenkammer with the Vredener Sixtuskasel, the historic westmuensterlandic courtyard with furniture and household appliances as well as the department 'Das Pferd als Arbeitstier'.
